Perfect Dark: A minor theory

Did this occur to anyone else?
The reason they are delaying Perfect Dark so long and bringing out DK before it with virtually no hype whatsoever, is because they are developing a new DSP chip to improve the framerates, graphics resolutions, AI, etc etc and it will take a lot of time to develop the schematics and manufacture the chip.
This is just a thought that occurred to me on the bus on the way to work. It struck me coz I was reading Game Over about the Starfox/Argonaut deals, and it was one of the lesser reasons for Nintendo to stick with cartridges.
It's just a little theory, so don't quote me, plus this doesn't really want to be a Rare bashing thread.
If there is a special chip inside the carts when they finally come out, remember who had ESP first d8¬)

Definitely not. They just delayed it because either:

1.) They want to spend more time on Perfect Dark to make it be the best it possibly can be.

2.) Make it require the expansion pak to run which will improve the quality.

or

3.) Release it later so it doesn't overshadow DK64

The PI bus is NOT a system bus, so for a DSP/coprocessor would be too
slow to be useful, except for some small audio-related enhancements
(on the cart port there are audio lines probably for this reason...)
still it would cost too much to be worth...

officially number one on your list is the reason why they dont release it as planned
they will make it the best game ever (hope them to be right!!!)

Well if a DSP chip wouldn't help much then I don't see why they stuck with carts.
Still, Dextrose probably wouldn't be here if they used CD, so thanks for that at least Nintendo.
