All those mothers were right it seems, as Nintendo has reportedly agreed that their games can cause physical harm to users. The game in question is Mario Party, and the problem was in the sub-games where players are required to gyrate the joypad joystick as fast as possible for maximum points. The result was that some players were getting friction burns, cuts, bruises and lacerations from their manipulations.

Nintendo has agreed to provide up to four pairs of protective gloves to every single owner of Mario Party - reportedly around 1.2 million people, though only if the game owners ask Nintendo themselves. The agreement is part of a settlement with the New York state Attorney General and could cost Nintendo up to US$80 million dollars. While no case has actually been filed yet, the New York Attorney General's office has received approximately 100 complaints from consumers who sustained injuries ranging from friction burns and blisters to lacerations and punctures.

They weren't sued either, they agreed to provide the gloves.

Seems like you can sue everybody for everything in the USA. I've heard that you can even sue the manafacture of a cup, if there doesn't come a warning with the cup that it could burn your hands if you don't touch it on the handles. This sucks!

And of course the IGNORANT American moral minority who got the face mapping feature removed from Perfect Dark. Fucking idiots. Any of them happen to see what you can do on just about every FPS customization prog on a PC?

Like people can't think for themselves.

If you don't want to get hurt don't play the game.
Nintendo isn't forcing you.

Just like the story of the old woman who seud after frying her dog by putting it in the microwave to dry.

What makes you think Rare took out that feature just because of American concerns? The worst country to deal with in terms of violence in games is Germany, not the US.

And I'm sure that was a Nintendo (more specifically, NOA) decision. I'm sure if it was possible to include a face-mapping feature in a PSX game, a developer would have no problems including it.
