Some people are surprized that PD is not heavily protected.
Strange, it will even let you play and save without a 16Kb eeprom bootcard ?
I see two explainations :
1) backup units are used by developpers.
2) developpers just ignore us.
I mean, see how many people downloaded that Zelda MOM crack : 3600.
That's a drop in the ocean of people using emulators.

What kind of protection does Perfect Dark have?
One thing i think is *REALLY* strange, is that it *CAN* save to a normal MEMPAK.... But i´m not complaing http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I seriously doubt Rare uses backup units to dev on. Third parties rely on them because they are far cheaper than the actual hardware and they are independent. Rare is a second party and is partially owned by Nintendo, so I'm sure they have plenty of official hardware.

If you've ever seen a N64 dev kit you know it looks quite similar, if not exactly like a v64jr. The only difference, aside from the obvious cosmetic changes, would be that the dev kits use a SCSI interface.

I thought that it was quite strange that pd saved straight to mempack too.. maybe they wanted to send out beta copies and didn't have (enough) flash rom beta carts? I dunno...
