Hey MMR, actually we are all emu users...Back-up units are considered enulators as well as the programs for the computer.

Back-up units emulate the cartridge, while the comp. programs emulate the console.

No, the backup units emulate a cartridge ROM only; the security chip and onboard save in provided by an external adapter and/or original cartrigde (except Z, but I've heard the SRAM emu ain't too good).

And to answer your first question, I would say that most people here do know where to get the latest rom dumps.

Sorry to hear about all your games getting eaten, but maybe next time you should backup your roms before playing them as suggested in the z64 manual.
