Whats the best cd "BRAND NAME" to burn rom images on.
I have used a number of different types ie Philips, infiniti, verbatim, ect but still encounter problems when loading discs, games.
I'm currently using samsung cd-r74s.This media is proving to be the most reliable up to date.No constant waiting for the CD drive to read the disc or TIME OUT ERRORS .
Currently burning for a Doc64 using Plex 8x.

I currently use Sansung CD-R 74s Silver discs to store ROMs, warez, TV, etc... I personally find them to be a very reliable disk, yet at only 55p sterling each (from a computer market).

Tho the best discs you can get are apparently the Philips ones (note the "apparently" - I haven't tried them myself).

One last thing - if the data on a CD matters more, burn it at a lower speed, even 1x if you have the time eg. try copying a VCD at 8x then at 1x - the 1x copy has little or no MPEG block errors (flashes of colour, funny sound, etc) compared to the 8x copy. This may remedy the time out etc errors you are getting.

While we have a CDR topic open...

I'm getting a shiny new Plextor 12/10/32 soon http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/biggrin.gif so I went to a computer market to get some food for it http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif

12x CDRs - fine - there were loads of them, although I didn't buy any becuase I have 19 8x and 8 4x to get through first.

But I could only find 4x CD-RW discs (Memorex) which pissed me off (I'm going to try writing to one at faster an dfaster speeds anyway, see how the disc takes it). So... does anyone know where I can get 10x CD-RW discs from, maybe order them from somewhere on the internet? (preferably in the UK).

[O.T.: Wishes he had something better than a 56k so he wouldn't have to wait 26 hours for M:I2 do download...]

arrid,

I just bought a 8x/8x/24x Yamaha and went onthe same quest for CDRW's faster than 4x. Bad news, nobody makes them yet. Yamaha said they would start making them soon, but they'll probably be mucho deniro. If you find any post the link.

well, my best experiences are with tdk. I use them to put my rom archive on (something n64 related so I won't get kicked from here) and they are supposedly universal speed cdr's. I also like the way the look face side up. Its silvery and looks so kewl that I don't even like ot write on them. of course, they're all made by the same factories and bought by the big companies who stamp their name on them. there is an ongoing list at www.cdmediaworld.com (http://www.cdmediaworld.com) about what factory makes the best cdr's and how to identify them
