I think these may have been addressed before, but I couldn't find a definate answer, so I apologize if this is a repeat, but here goes:
1) I used SWEP1 to save Mario Tenis, if I try to save a different game that uses the same save chip, or if I play and save SWEP1 from the actual cartridge, will it erase my Mario Tennis saves and replace it with the new game save?
2)And also what Kobe has the flash ram chip (for saving Pokemon, C&C, etc)? Is it 1 or 2?
Sorry again for the reapeats, but I'm too tired to look through a bazillion posts right now...

Simple rule: One save chip, one save.

In speaking of saving, there's got to be a way to implement a Save-State feature to be used with the back-up units...Doesn't there? That would eliminate any nd all saving problems all together! No need for specially save cracks or special boot carts...That would just plain rock...
But alas, I have no idea how implement such a feature... http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/frown.gif

That would require the nintendo's ram (8 megs), the exact hardware states (video memory, mempack, cache, etc) and a way to get the hardware back to that state.
I think that the n64 itself would need to support this for it to be done cleanly.

There was a save-state device for SNES way back when that I remember seing, all it did was hook to the cart and keep power to the cart via it's built battery pack, then when you plug it back into the SNES it would be exactly where you left off.
But I don't think save-states have to do with the N64 hardware states, it just needs to save the state the RAM is in (the RAM in the backup units), then you reload that state to pick up right where you left off...You'd probably need to be using the same boot cart that you saved the state in though...
<wishfull thinking>
If one of you programmers were to get ambitios enough to look into this that would be cool, and if you made a successful save state tool, you could probably sell it and make some nice change! http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif

I do remember something about the SNES having a save state option on the backup device. (3.5in floppy, right?)
You might be able to accomplish something with a bios or some strange boot emu. It wouldn't be able to save everything, but it could probably save enough. I wouldn't think that you would need to save a rom as it is read only memory -- hopefully they don't try and change that during game play http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif
Maybe one of the vets here could explain to us how that worked for the SNES.

No you can't just save the ram contents, reload the data and expect the game to start where you left off. You would need to save ram, the states of the various processors, etc, etc.
This has been discussed before, forget about a save state feature on the N64.
