yes, load up the backed up cart with the sram that you want to restore using the original cart as the boot cart. loading from the lcd works best. (i have done this before)

It doesn't work, the z64 reads SRAM from the cart but then will load it into it's own internal sram...The only way is via the doctor series and cd64 series I believe..what you could try to do is rename ram to .eep see if that will work, I am not sure if the z64 will try to write to a different address or just bypass internal sram, give it a shot....just make sure the carts current memory is of no use to you...

I have done this with my zelda cart just recently. I think that I may try it again to figure out the minimum that needs to be done to save the .ram file to sram on the cart.

I have also overwritten my re2 sram with teh z64 by accident before, so the z64 can overwrite sram on the boot cart. interesting that this can happen if it _always_ emulates sram.

It seemed to me that the if the boot cart has sram, the z64 would use that instead.

I'll give it a try tonight/tomorrow and see if I can get it to overwrite the sram on the cart again.

1) Turn on Z64 with Zelda as boot cart
2) LOAD "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA" (from zip w/ SRAM save)
3) Z64 will display "NO CARTRIDGE EEPROM - UNABLE TO SAVE"
4) Z64 might display "LOAD APS? YES NO" (doesn't matter which you choose)
5) Z64 Loads "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA" 0% -> 100%
6) Z64 Displays:
a) "LOADING APS..." (maybe)
b) "RESERVE RECORD" (briefly)
c) "LOAD SRAM"
7) Power of the Z64

Step 6c is where the Z64 actually restores the SRAM to the Zelda cart

Also, you can substitute a different file for the Zelda file on the zip, but keep the .ram the same and name things so that the Z64 associates them with each other. This would allow you to restore a .ram to SRAM without having to wait for 32Megs to load from the zip. http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif

I think that the above post will work, and what i am about to state is probably useless but here goes anyway. If you change the siz e of a rom ie increase the mbit from say 64 to 65 the z64's sram emulation does not work, now the inportant bit is if the z64 still sends the sram to the boot cart which i cannot remmember so you will have to give it a try

anyways good luck

The steps that I listed above do work. I got them from actually restoring my Zelda save games from the zip.

Hi Zaphod

If my last post seemed to infer that your way of up loading sram does not work, that was not my intention. I was just trying to throw in another possible way of getting from a to b (if in fact my way would work) anyway just thought I should say that.
