OK, I dont have any... so...

Anyone out there want to program a front-end for evek 2? This dos-based stuff is kinda rough to do on windows, and I think a front-end would be alot easier.

i actually made a frontend for elim/evek when evek was first released, but when i got no answer from the obsidan gang that it would be ok for me to release it i never did, but i could try asking them again, although i'd need to tweak it for evek2 and perfect the saving function before release. besides finding the time to do it http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif

are there any more people interested in me doing it?

it's not in VB either, but who cares ? http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif

Heh... I'm sure that they wouldn't mind, as long as it is released "unsupported", or whatever. I'd definately be interested. =)

Just curious... What language is it in?

a frontend ? what for ?

all you have to do is associate the file extension with evekII, then you send the file with one click, that's all.

i could be rhetorical and ask you why use a send program like elim? it's just as "easy" to write your own program. what i'm trying to say is, there are differnent levels of expertise in the field of PC-users, and some of 'em may find using a frontend easier. and seeing there is some demand for one ...

actually it's a little more than just a frontend. it extends the functions of evek and elim. when selecting a rom to play it searches for a matching save file and asks if you would like to upload it first. same thing when you've finished playing it reminds you to update you're savefile. it remembers the savetypes associated with each rom, you can either select this manually or using the supplied database. ohh well, i'll try looking in to it this week.

Sounds nice... As for the comment about not-needing a frontend...

Personally, I have no problem shelling to dos and doing everything manually. However, I live in an apartment full of people (thanks to college life - aint it grand!) and I am not the only one who uses the n64. Most of the other ppl are not as computer savy, and I would not like them poking their noses around my computer, where they are free to screw up whatever they wish. A frontent saves me trouble, and also keeps everything nice and tidy for everyone else.

marsares: how can I update windows registery to associate the .v64 extension with some other commands. I mean if I clicked a file with .v64 extension windows will do some specific actions.!
