There is slow down of course... less so in low rez, however. Slowdown really doesn't seem any better or worse than Turok 2. I think the graphics look worse then in Turok 2, but I could be wrong.. I'd have to boot Turok 2 up to verify.. I suppose the ability to save anywhere will be a welcome addition though.

And Peroy, I have to agree about that, but I only get 0.3-0.7 kb/s. It would take me about three days to dl it http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/frown.gif

Best turok game yet. Maybe its because I didn't have high expectations. I was looking forward to Turok 2 alot and it just sucked..

The grafix look good, mostly indoor/small areas, so no fog..

Anyway its good.. I've only played the first level so my opinion might change as I play.

FiRE

only thing is the "load" times between areas... but that isn't even an issue

But you wouldn't split it into 2mb chunks with WinACE and upload them to a Xoom account could you? http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

WOW, this game is suprisingly very cool!!!!! What a cool intro, beatiful animations, and ingame it's just scary sometimes what you see, nice shadows of opponents, very good facial animations, also very cool animations ingame (like in the 1st level with that guy who's climbing up a ladder that you must follow and he will get caught by aliens) WOW, forget the other Turoks, this is Turok 3 and it rocks, I 1st thought before the game released, it would be a bit dull, but it isn't, i'm happy, very happy! Worth downloading!

id be damned if I can get this anywhere - using NTLworld its impossible - Im off work so I haven't got my isdn connection - Ive a two hour cutoff point - aves will download at 1k = 8 hours and its non resumable - aben64 has it but the news server has loads of parts missing. First time have had problems getting something... hmmmm - any decent links anywhere ???

finally got this game and must say that it is top notch. the second level is definately inspired by half life. the facial animations in the cut scenes, i thought that weren't possible on a 4yr old machine!
you guys who get 100+kb/sec download speeds are sick mate. i only get 4.5kb on my excellent modem!! what sort of connections you people got? down here in the UK, the majority can only use shitty modems...

I tried Turok 3 today.....only for a few mins though.....and it must be the first time I've ever heard real speech in an N64 game....heh
That was cool and all but, I was to scared of the game to actually play it......It's so darn spooky when youre all alone on a level...heh...no one in sight....gah...heh
And bob1, there should be a law against getting DL speeds of under 200 kb/s when you download N64 games. Heh...More than 2 minutes to dl a game... http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/frown.gif

Minging is one word to describe this. While it's nowhere as bad as Daikatana, it just doesn't have any atmosphere. Plot is sort of missing quite a lot, it just doesn't have any real sort of atmosphere, and it really doesn't look or feel like a Turok game, in fact as I was playing through it (up to the silo bit of the 2nd chapter) it actually reminded me more or Armorines than Turok.
Turok2 IMO has a lot more atmosphere and I think it more fun to play, and if you complain about the save points well try actually getting good at games.

Sat 2 Sep 2000, 21:04
I agree.

When I was playing it reminded me of Duke Nukem or something... I was more impressed at the graphics in T2 too...

It felt like I was playing a PSX port. The humans in it look rough.

Not bad... but not what I expected.

Kaiser Ben
Sun 3 Sep 2000, 04:09
yes, not sure what to think of this... have played it a little bit today, also think the atmosphere is lacking compared to t2. but guess i cant say this for sure since im not even done with the first stage.
And Mr.Mucho, this isnt the first n64 game with speech, turok2 had speech in the cutscenes as well, and SW: rogue squadron had excellent speech http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif

Zaphod
Sun 3 Sep 2000, 04:26
the engine they used for lighting and when to draw objects is lacking seriously. some things almost have to get 1/6 of the way onto the screen before they get drawn. (i think i might rather have fog) the controls also feel a bit sluggish.

jaggies in a n64 game? that really sucks. i like seeing little white lines in people's faces. adds to the realism. http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif

the graphics and loading remind me of "future shock" for the pc....not good.

if i get into the story, i could play it though.

Played some of the multi player last night.... it is worth a play. Lots of nice options.

Kaiser Ben
Sun 3 Sep 2000, 13:48
and one more thing, i think there are too many glitches. i mean, all games have glitches, but some of the ones i have found only in the first stage ar just not acceptable (i actually tried to climb a ladder, but just walked right thru it, fell down to the ground and died. nice http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif )

luna_securit

Are we sure this is the FINAL version?

Played it for a while last night and it seemed to be more bugs than Starship Troopers. Anyone noticed the rain which "lands" in mid-air on the first level?

I agree with the posts above - T3 lacks atmosphere (so far). Great intro though!!

cte
Sun 3 Sep 2000, 19:35
...yeah, he can walk through doors too.

Been playing the 1 player a bit now and I don't think its as bad as my first impressions. It is certainly different from the other Turoks and that is taking me some getting used to.... and I continue play.

Paul_Bunyan
Sun 3 Sep 2000, 23:18
I've been playing it and I must say I'm very disapointed...Perhaps I have been spoiled by the quality of PC FPSers, but the N64 can do better than this...And I hate the controlls in all the Turoks, they seem "sluggish".

I kinda like this game so far, at least in single player. I don't think this is the final version. I noticed that some of the cops' faces (the one's who are lying on the ground) switch skins very rapidly, as if the game is not sure which one to display and is sorting through them. Or maybe it's just that mushroom I ate earlier.....

I really wonder what went wrong with Perfect Dark, i mean, GoldenEye 077 was out in 1997 (?) and the FPS & game was great!
Now Perfect Dark was released a couple of months ago, but the FPS weren´t so good, but it seems like a much "bigger" game than GoldenEye 007
And NO í´m not complaining, i mean, why should i complain, when i get the ROMs for free, it would be ok to complain if i had the cart http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

hahaha, i've been playing turok3 for some while and you i just got to chapter 4. hmmm, deja vu anyone? yes, that's right, it's the first level in turok 1.

anyway's, i kinda like this game, the weapon's started out crap but in the blink of an eye, they all get upgraded (in chapter 3, when you've filled the dam, playing the kid). i'm kindof disappointed with the rather linear gameplay, the problems ain't hard, but then again, i'm probably too old to play video games http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif my favorite weapon is ofcourse the storm bow, not the coolest gun probably, but deadly effective. ohh well, it's definetly worth a try.

How r u suppose to use the Vampire gun???

~momoko~
Tue 5 Sep 2000, 14:22
heh... the vampire gun is plain stupid.... not sure what you mean how to use it... point n shoot! It squeezes the enemy a bit and then they die... looks lame as hell imo... anyone know whats in the cheats? I know there will be inf ammo, a god mode and all weaps... you can't have an fps without these!

Tue 5 Sep 2000, 17:36
theres more to the vampire gun, it refills some of your life, while stealing from the enemies. anyway, it suck.

Whenever I try the Vampire gun it just seems to take my energy off... but then I guess thats why its called a vampire gun.

I havent played anything other than Turok 3 since I got it. I think I like it better than the first two + multi player is good.

i've been playing this game for about 5 and half hrs now, and have reached the Oblivian stage withe the woman. i have a few points to say:
1. what happened to all the violence? i'm sure the previous turoks had more blood and blown off heads etc.
2. the dinosaurs. where have they all gone? there's like one t-rex and that's it!
3. the weapons don't seem that impressive compared to turok 2.
4. i've read at ign64 about frame rate problems. i don't seem to be experiencing many although the character does walk fairly slow.

apart from that i think the game is still really good stuff.

Ok, now that I have actually sat down and played turok3 I'm going to have change my mind on a few things..

I still like the grfx. The intro and voices are great. and nice in game grfx.

The game is VERY linear. So many times I didn't even know what the objective was I just happened to find the key/door/whatever..

Alot of clipping/grafx clitches. Enemies disappearing and re appearing.. Getting stuck IN a box and not being able to get out.

If I didn't know better Acclaim rushed this out.. Why Rush? No one was waiting for it anyway..

FiRE

Oh Acclaim, when will you ever learn..

Turok 3 is definitely a good game. But I have some problems with it, probably because I did something wrong with the download, copying it to the zipdrive, bootcart or something else....
Anyways, this is the problem i have with T3:
All through the game there are like two shadows around everything. Not too easy to explain when your'e native language is swedish, but it's like there are outer lines around the weapon, enemies and everything else in the game.
I use a pal n64 and z64, goldeneye as cart.
Does anyone know why I have this problem? Or maybe you've heard of this type of problem before?
Thanks.

Kaiser Ben
Thu 7 Sep 2000, 19:37
hmm, probably because u have an PAL tv and the game is NTSC, i have seen this prob before, usually happens on older tv's. its like an red shadow right?
since my tv is rather new, i dont have this prob, but think u have to palfix it.

trent
Thu 7 Sep 2000, 20:04
No,no,no, my brand new Samsung 40" WS-TV is NTSC-compatible. T3 is the only game I have problems with.
Hmmmm....do you have any other ideas of what might be wrong?
Thanks for helping.

Tack.
