Dude, not only the Z64's...
Probably you can throw at least one 16mbyte V64-Module into the Trashbin to get another custommade one at bung. But well, its not that surprisingly really.
I said it before, if RAM-Prices fall, and they will, we will see probably a lot of bigger games for N64.
Its strange actually, the older the N64 is, the more is it gaining in popularity and quality. How many people thought that Zelda ist the last big N64-Game ? It won't.

yeah but you would figure they would know that nintendo will make bigger games and put more ram to be ready for the bigger games but then again whrn your dealing w/ these companies all they care about is the $$

i hope that it's possible to just buy a 64megs mem chip for the z64 and not have to buy another fucking mb (hw 4 is on the way?)cause i upgraded my hw 1 to hw 3 and started having fucking troubles with a lot of games...
btw smash bros worked fine (freezes sometime)on bios 2.10 and since i installed bios 2.12 i got troubles (doesn't work anymore)same is for other games...
btw i still hadn't made the modification to the mb, i just want to be sure it works.... any final words over this topic?

:-) have a nice day! :-)

Anyone know anything about upgrading the CD64? I have next to know technical knowledge, so I have no idea how practical it is.

Is Ogre Battle here yet?
It's not so I won't concern myself with it. Plus, Nintendo often says certain games are coming out and they don't...
It's not even a game that sounds like I would want to play.

Along with Orge Battle confirmed at 320 Mbit, Capcom confirmed today that Resident Evil 2 will be 512Mbit. Start saving money for upgrades!

RE2? As if no one hasn't played it on a nother system by then. At any rate, is it worth buying it instead of adding more memory???
Think of the 32 meg games. There sure aren't very many.
BTW, how come the Nintendo never needs to be updated with these bigger games?

The n64 doesn't load the entire rom at once, it streams it from the cart. Since CDs and Zip discs don't load as fast as carts, backup units must load the entire rom into memory. So, there is no limit for the size of carts for the n64, except price.

The N64 memory map has space for at least 128MB (1024mbit) games, possibly more.
The V64jr seems to have a limit of backing up 64MB games because it splits the 128 meg address space into two sections, with the first 64 megs being used to access its DRAM and the second 64 megs being used to access the cart that you want to back up.
I suspect the CD64 might have a similar limitation because it also uses the N64 cpu to back-up original carts, but I don't know how its memory map is actually laid out.
That said, I don't know what capacity of memory simms the various backup units will actually utilize.

Elemental: Simply open your CD64 and exchange the memory chip with a bigger one. It must be 60ns EDO Type D-RAM, which also works in some PCs. You may also just remove the slot on the bottom of the CD64 and Xchange the mem, but that's quite tricky.

They don't make a 64meg EDO chip. So, looks like only 32 megs for the CD.

Of course there are 64MB Edos.
Just look at http://www.computer-profis.de/ , for example.
