Looking back at all those poor poor v1 owners of the Z64, what's gonna happen to us v2 and 3 owners when the bigger carts come out? Will we become the poor poor v2 and v3 owners who have to go out and buy an expensive upgrade? Why *did* the v1 owners even have to buy an upgrade, couldn't they just buy new RAM and pop it in themselves?? Will the v2 & 3 owners be able to just buy new ram??

Sorry, nick
it dosn't work that way, never has
the hardware has to support the new memory
someone a while back was telling people to "just go buy a 32 meg simm" well thats just false, and it will most likely be just as false when it comes to any future upgrades

Come on now, how could they be able to tell what an upgrade would cost now?

Its going to be the same as when Zelda/Turok 2 came out. Atleast wait until the games have been released, then start asking. The upgrade will probably cost about about the same as the last one, since memory isnīt the thing costing here.

But I think it is time for Mr Backup the get a grip and design a Z64 that can be upgraded without paying 30% of the units price in upgrade cost.

Mr Backup should look further than a year ahead when they design the next unit, so we doesnīt have to go out and buy a new costly upgrade each time a bigger game hits the downloadsites.

I agree 100%, you shouldn't have to replace the motherboard just because you need more RAM.

hey guys are you sure about compulsory motherboard change for memory upgrade?
if the problem is only that you don't have 64mbit simms i remember i saw a simm adapter that could carry 2simms in the place of 1 like this:
mem mem

slot
nice graphics (ascii art!)

let's see if this is the only prob...
