Don't you feel it? Nintendo and friends are starting to chase us. More and more sites about N64 Backup are going down. The copy protections in the carts are getting bether. And in almost every magazine you can read their warnings. With Ultra HLE the problems got even more worse, beacuse now N has to fear even more illegal users. Imagine there were some faked resellers (of backup stations and CDs) like in the Amiga scene, who are leading us directly into N's arms!
Does someone know what kind of punishment awaits us if we get catched?
I heard that in Germany someone who sells CDs with roms could go into prison for 5 years. But what happens to a simple user?
And... what do you guys think about it?

You can't be arrested for owning a backup system. The cost for Nintendo of taking a simple user who owns a couple of games on CD or Disk is just not worth the price.
Usually they just concentrate on people selling the games. It's easier to get a conviction.
(Please note that these views are based on European law, dunno about the States or other places).

Really all you have to do is avoid going into business selling games and you should be allright. Single users are not worth the cost researching but resellers of copies or cd's full of roms are easy targets. The Big N actively pursues rom distributors. Not telling everyone at work/school also helps. There are a lot of leagle beagle people out there snooping/looking to turn someone in.

What people do in the privacy of their own homes is pretty much protected by the constitution. Except here where they just made a stupid new law that kids can be arrested in their home for drinking alcohol.

The day Nintendo release a solid machine like the SNES again is the day I stop running an emu or backup cart for one of their systems.....
Of all the games on the 64, only GOLDENEYE,ZELDA and ROGUE SQUADRON are worth buying!
