I'm new to this N64 copying stuff and have a few questions before I purchase a Doc 64Jr.

1) If I already have the RAM pack that plugs into the controller and Mario, Goldeneye and Turok, do I still need to purchase that DX256 or DX1 for saving my game in ROMs such as Zelda... Star Wars, etc? Somebody told me to save the money and not get a DX256 and to just use my Mario cart to store Zelda games in.

2) I have a Gameshark 64. Can I use it when playing a ROM to transfer save game info to the joystick's attached RAM pack? Cause my GS has some sort of memory util for copying games.

3) Is it possible to RIP games that I rent with the Doc Jr? Or am I limited to only uploading ROM images?

If anyone can PLEASE answer these questions, I'd appreciate it!!!

The mario cart can not be used to save Zelda games because it uses a different type of save ram, so you need a DS1 for that. However, the Mario cart can be used to save games like Goldeneye and Turok which also use EEPROM.

I don't know about the Gameshark, but the sram manager software available for download on dextrose can be used with the jr to transfer games between the cart and the controller ram pack. Works just fine for me.

You can dump rom images with the v64jr. Bung's software won't do it, but other software will. You may have problems copying some of the new protected carts (the ones that need crack patches) but standard carts work just fine.
