Here's my games, each complete with its problems http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif

*Nushi Tsuri - mosaic fading, looks like corrupt stuff. The 2D scrolling seems to have a framerate of 15fps. Should this game look like this?
*Pocketmonster Snap - This game won't save. Have I missed anything in the crack-department?
*Star Wars EP1 racer - I have the "so-called" beta-version, so my question is, if the "real" version differs much from the one I have?

Please help!
Ps. I own a Doctor 64.

Don't know about Nushi Tsuri but Poké Snap don't save because it uses a new type of save chip in the cart so we'll have to wait and see if a crack can be made for partial saving or for Bung to make an adapter. And for Racer- the demo and the final are said to be exactly the same.

Beleive it or not, Nushi Tsuri (Legend Of The River King) is actually supposed to look like that. The map messed up my eyes after a while because it is so jerky and if that weird fade is actually in the finished cart, I'm lost as to why they did it, a Mode 7 style fade would have looked better if they really have this hot thing for squares.
The poor graphics engine is really typical of most third party N64 developers, although Nintendo hardly gives them a chance considering the lack of help it gives them.
I already e-mailed NOA telling them to increase their help to third parties on the next system and they came back with that basically if they helped everyone else they wouldn't have time to make their own games. Well personally I thought these were two different departments within Nintendo so it wouldn't affect the people making the in-house games, so what I think is that they just want all the best games to be made by them, which, while it isn't bad business strategy, does hurt the actual machine sales in the long run. I told them that too but just received the same response. Looks like we could be in for yet more of the same treatment from Nintendo for the minor third party developers.

Yeah I think N should give some more support to 3rd party developers but the most important thing is outside developers have to have good ability themselves. Look at Rare they certainly don't need any help, it could easily be argued that their games are actually better than N's own.. maybe except Zelda. That's because they have so much talent by themselves. I also think Iguana and Factor Five are very technically good. Although N should let more developers have access to the microcode.

Thanks a lot guys, now if only someone could give me the real name of starwars ep1 racer (romname), i renamed my version since I believed it was a beta. Could someone just give me the name or hand over an imagepatch of the game so i can make it original again?

As for the other discussion:
I think nintendo is getting better, just look at Resident Evil, it has a bigger cart than Zelda 64. And just look at the thirdparties, they keep increasing and that must be some kind of good sign. Now we have allmost every good thirdpart developer (though we still miss SQUARE). I believe that we have at least one good game from each of the big four (except SQUARE) Konami, SQUARE, Namco and Capcom before the end of N64. Strangely, Konami has taken a loooong time to learn how to use the great power of N64. Just look at the graphics, they have been one of the most productive developers but still...
And look at their games, Sony gets Metalgear Solid and what do we get? Hybrid Heaven? To put everything worse, the super reliable source IGN64 says that this game is going to be mediocre.
Sure nintendo must pay more attention to the developers, and I think they will, Dolphin, anyone?

Oh, I forgot ask.

Ken griffery works 100% on v64, right?

Is there anything wrong whith Pocketmonster stadium 2, why did Titanik post a new crack. Pocketmoster Stadium 2 can save, can't it?

I think this is what you want?: nbc_sw1r.zip was the filename of the final version. I think Griffey works 100% on V as long as you have the new crack #2. I think he released a new one for PS2 because the first wasn't 100% and didn't work on Z64. No you can't save because it uses the same type of new chip for saving as Snap.

I told Nintendo in my e-mail that they should open up the architecture of the new machine a little bit so it is easier to develope for than Nintendo64 and also give a lot more help with providing access to microcode and such but their response was that each company has their secrets and in turn third parties need to develope their own skills. Hardly the response any Nintendo gamer really wants to read but that's the way it's been since way back when, so why change now? They seem to be forgetting that they could get away with it before the days of games on CD but with them now losing their dominance and many third parties seeing an easier to develope and cheaper, lower risk platform in the psx, Nintendo has lost their dominance. While Howard Lincoln recently kind of admitted that in his E3 speech, I don't think word has trickled down to their e-mail response team, or at least, as usual with Nintendo, perhaps the E3 speech was a cover-up to try and take the wind from Sony's sail in some way. Personally, I expect the next Nintendo system to be delayed, although not as much as N64 (nearly 1 1/2 years anyone?). As for Nintendo regaining their dominance of the market as in the early 90's, we'll have to wait and see. One thing's for sure, I'll be buying the new Nintendo through import, just the same as I have with every other Nintendo console. (VB excluded hehe)

I think N has a good chance of taking the lead back from Sony if Dolphin launches very soon after PSX2. If PSX2 comes out fall 2000 and Dolphin fall 2001 then Sony will win again. N really has to meet that Winter 2000 worldwide release if they want to beat Sony.
