Have you guys ever heard of the NeoGeo Pocket Color? It is going to be released in the US in about 14 days. I read about it at http://www.snkusa.com . Does someone know where to get independent information on the NGPC, or something like a game release list? I think it is bether than a Gameboy Color and the games seem to be more fun (you know, SNK).
Is here an Neogeo Pocket (Color?) owner who wants to tell something about it?

The NGP Color is great!

I've had mine for about a month and Puzzle Bobble and KOF R-2 are MUST BUYS!!!!

SNK Vs. Capcom is going to be released soon (Can't wait!), along with the Dreamcast link-up cable.

I'm going to get a Wonder Swan as well as it's being supported by Squaresoft,Namco & Capcom!!

Looks pretty cool but it's bulkier than GBC and those pretty graphics will probably kill the batteries pretty quickly.

Actually, the batteries last around 40 hours on the color version (50+ on the B/W version)

The NGPC really rocks ! Check www.multimania.com/neogeopocket for links.
'hope we'll see a kind of GBXchanger soon for the NGPC.
And what about an emu for our beloved N64 ? I am trying to gather tech infos about it... So if you have any clue...
I have compared both NGPC and GBC and I must
tell you that the NGPC is really far better.
Hope a NGPC scene will start soon http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/wink.gif

omsk.

PS: i have to say that the batteries really last about 30 to 40 hours

Any Technical documents or SDK stuff available yet? I have a decent 68k assembler (from the Genesis) that would work pretty well.

I don't think that we need a scene for the NGPC like we've got one for the N64. In another Topic someone says if Nintendo makes a solid machine like the SNES he will stop copying games.
If the NGPC is really that great, i think it is only fair to make/buy/support no backup unit or emulator for it.
Anyway thank you guys for your opinion, I think I am going to buy one.

NGPC is a major failure in japan, just check the (very short) list of upcoming titles in japan, all games from snk except a few pachinko or casino games...
Even if the hardware is better than gbc it has not much support at all... And if you are wondering, bung wont make a copier for it, unless it becomes a major success but developers already left the project in japan so i doubt it... Also it is 3cm thick, it should hardly be called 'pocket'...

Well I hope _someone_ comes up with a copier for it...I for one would love to make trainers etc. on this format. I'm sure we could persuade lots of the ex-amiga guys to come onto it as it's 68000, and it has lots of nice features like several seperately scrollable 'zones' etc...looks very nice to me, but I do agree - I think it's going to go the way of the PC-Engine/Turbo-Grafx...

Uhm... how can you compare the NGPC to PCE, which was one of the most successful systems ever in japan. NGPC is very weak in japan, unlike PCE. You could compare WS with PCE, since WS is success in japan but not here.

mfm: ngpc is a major failure in japan ???? Maybe the first neogeopocket black and white was a failure but i dont think for the moment the color version can be called a failure... Just go and see the upcoming titles for this device: Sega is developping, sony, taito, namco, snk (of course), and other japanses firms (who used to develop for the arcade neogeo system).

->Also it is 3cm thick, it should hardly be called 'pocket'
i guess you have never used it. it s really light weight and very small. Try one you'll agree.

Like Actraiser said their are rumors about bung developping a new mgd3. Go look at the poll results and you'll see that the ngpc has more than 1% of the votes !!

Of course if you don't like 2d games like king of fighters, puzzle bobble, metal slug (it rocks), sonic (which is scheduled), etc... you wont like ngpc (nor gameboy color). I have played a lot gbc and i can tell ngpc rocks lot more.

The current problem is that snk is not sony nor nintendo: they can't spend billions of dollars in advertising. But take the exemple of the arcade and home neogeo systems: they were the best gaming machines for a very long period. Even today many neogeo games are better than psx or n64 games.

So as a conclusion: play gbc, play ngpc, play wonderswan, play gamegear and tell me which is the best system. If you say anything else than ngpc then you're lying http://www.dextrose.com/ubb/smile.gif

PS: the reason why wonderswan is working well in japan is because they released it with a final fantasy game... and japanse are crazy about these game. But technically ws is just one more black and white system and i don't think it will be such a sucess in usa or anywhere else than japan.

PPS: support dex 'cause it really deserves it.

Its rather obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about. If you see the list of upcoming software from SNK JAPAN, its SNK and 2-3 unknown companies.
WS has far more developers and games released, and not 90% beatemup games like it is for NGPC. And if NGPC is 3cm it cant possibly be called small, and no it wont fit in a pocket. Anyone who wants to play beatemup games only can say NGPC is best, otherwise it isnt.

About bungs new mgd3 products I already know that there wont be anything for NGPC or WS, so spare me the rumours.

As for WS success in USA i couln't care less, US gamers can play their WWF games on GBC. WS probably wont be released in USA anyway.

From what I've heard there the NeoGeo Pocket is dead in the water in Japan with the Wonderswan killing it.

Hmmm...

Looks like I shouldn't buy a NGPC after all.
I am also quite disappointed from http://www.snkusa.com . They haven't replied to any of my Emails.
Maybe I should look out for a Turbo Express and some cheap HU-Cards.

I just visited www.etoys.com (http://www.etoys.com) and they have the Neo Geo Pocket Color in stock. Let me know if this helps.

Sometimes I've got the feeling that some dealers are just placing their links in this forum, without even reading the topic...
